Mac is an operating system that runs on Macintosh computers from Apple Inc.Within the market of desktop and laptop computers it is the second most widely used desktop OS, after Microsoft Windows and ahead of Chrome OS. In the late 1980's, the Wintel (Windows/Intel) combination of software/hardware used on the PC took off because the architecture was open. This encouraged third parties to develop software and special purpose add-on cards for the PC that enabled fur:her extensions and enhancements to the PC.
